Computer Literacy Training for Pinoys in Dubai & Northern Emirates

The Filipino Computer Club launched its 2009’s 1st Computer Literacy Training series which will run for ten Fridays at Rewaq Educational Center and Abu Bakr Assiddiq Islamic Center.

“These short-courses are intended for OFWs who want to equip themselves with the current software applications using the Windows-based programs, learn how to develop and maintain websites, to be able to configure / assemble personal computers and understand the basics of Network Administration,” FCC president Cherry Pye Torres said in a statement.

To be taught during the trainings are Introduction to I.T. (that includes computer fundamentals, MS Windows, Internet & Email), MS Word 2007, MS Excel 2007, MS Power Point 2007, Advanced Excel, MS Access 2007, HTML Coding, Flash Animation, and Adobe Photoshop for the web.

“It is designed to provide beginners or new computer users into the basics of computer operations as well as to provide advanced users more knowledge in other applications” she said.

The technical part of the courses includes “PC Hardware Configuration & Assembly” and “Network Administration”. Participants will be made to familiarize themselves with computer hardware / assembly, software set-up, configuration and troubleshooting.

To conduct the hands-on training are FCC’s volunteer lecturers headed by Microsoft-certified Authorized Instructor Engineer Cherry Pye Torres for MS Office, Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) Danny Eramiz for Network Administration and Eng Milo Torres for Web Development, database and programming.

Formed in June 1996, the FCC, a non-profit organization under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate General, has also been organizing Speech Craft workshops and other skills enhancement program for OFWs in line with the Philippine government’s re-integration program.

Milo Torres for HTML Coding and Photoshop for the Web.
